Seminar “Hotel Security System againts Terrorism”
Lodging or hotel property has big responsibilities to secure the guests while they are staying at the hotel. The most important duties of Loss and Prevention Departement is to protect the guests from harm while on the propety. Although interpretions of protection may vary from state to state, every legal jusdriction imposes some of security obligation of the hotels.
The industry’s concern with security has increased greatly since the terorrist attact of September 11, 2001. Hotels, because they are so open to the public, are potential target for terrorist activities. For examples, immediatly after the tragic events of 9/11, hotels in New York and Washington D.C, received dozens of bomb threats, including threats to use poisonous gas and other types of destructive device. Of course, terrorism is not the only security concern hotel face. The crime rate against both people and assets continues to increase through all the country in the world including Indonesia.
Indonesia is now becoming popular with the terorrism issues as some of bombing attack happened in Indonesia. Bali and Jakarta is the most often city that has bomb threats. That is why the student would like to make this event for better understanding of security at the lodging industry.
